If you and your man have been feeling more like roommates than lovers lately, this one is for you.
Closeness doesn’t disappear overnight, and it rarely comes back overnight either.
It comes back through small, intentional things you do together, one day at a time.
How To Do This Challenge
Do it together, and only if you both want to.
Pick a time each day that works for you, even if it’s just fifteen minutes before bed.
If you miss a day, don’t panic; just pick up where you left off.
Some days will be light and fun, and some will need honest conversations.
Go into the hard ones gently, and make sure you both feel safe to speak.
The 30 Day Relationship Challenge To Feel Close Again
Week 1: Reconnect Emotionally

The first week is about remembering how to really talk to each other.
I’ll be honest, Day 3 is the one I’d struggle with most, because I’m always on my phone checking one thing or the other.
That’s exactly why it matters.
Day 1: Have an honest conversation about how you both feel about the relationship.
Day 2: Share three things you appreciate about each other.
Day 3: Spend 20 minutes talking without phones or distractions.
Day 4: Ask each other, “What makes you feel most loved by me?”
Day 5: Share a happy memory from your relationship.
Day 6: Ask each other what you have been missing emotionally.
Day 7: Have a relationship check-in and discuss how the week felt.
Week 2: Bring Back Romance And Affection
Romance has a way of fading into the background once life gets busy.
This week, you’re bringing it back on purpose.
None of it needs to be expensive; it just needs to be intentional.
Day 8: Give each other a sincere compliment.
Day 9: Plan a simple date at home or outside.
Day 10: Hold hands, cuddle or share other affection you both welcome.
Day 11: Send each other a thoughtful message during the day.
Day 12: Recreate a small part of one of your earliest dates.
Day 13: Do something thoughtful for your partner without being asked.
Day 14: Discuss the little romantic gestures you would both love more often.
Week 3: Strengthen Friendship And Communication

The best relationships have a real friendship underneath them.
This week is about laughing together and learning each other again.
My husband and I are planning to try a pottery experience soon, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it, because doing something new together is one of the sweetest ways to feel close.
Day 15: Ask each other five questions you have never discussed in depth.
Day 16: Do a fun activity together that makes you laugh.
Day 17: Listen to each other talk about a current worry without immediately offering solutions.
Day 18: Discuss one recurring disagreement calmly and look for a solution together.
Day 19: Learn something new about each other’s current interests or ambitions.
Day 20: Spend quality time together without multitasking.
Day 21: Ask each other, “What can I do to make you feel more supported?”
Week 4: Build Deeper Intimacy And Partnership

By now, you should be talking more easily.
This week goes a little deeper, into your goals, your future, and the way you share your life.
Take your time with these conversations, because they’re the ones that build a real partnership.
Day 22: Discuss one personal goal you would like to achieve this year.
Day 23: Talk about your hopes for the next year as a couple.
Day 24: Identify one responsibility you can share more fairly.
Day 25: Express appreciation for something your partner regularly does.
Day 26: Discuss your emotional and physical intimacy needs openly.
Day 27: Create a new tradition you can enjoy together.
Day 28: Discuss one habit you both want to improve in the relationship.
Final Two Days: Reflect And Commit
You made it this far, so celebrate it.
Day 29: Have a special date and discuss the positive changes you have noticed.
Day 30: Agree on three simple habits you will keep practising to stay connected.
End Of Challenge Reflection
When you’re done, sit together and see which of these feel true for you now:
- We communicate more openly about our feelings.
- We make more intentional time for each other.
- We show appreciation more regularly.
- We understand each other’s needs better.
- We have identified areas where our relationship needs more attention.
- We have chosen three habits to keep beyond the challenge.
The goal was never to complete all 30 days perfectly.
It’s to become more intentional about loving and listening to each other every day.
Both of you should take part willingly, and every hard conversation should feel respectful and safe.
Closeness is built in the small moments you choose to show up for, so keep choosing them long after Day 30.
